Both high schools open up wrestling league action with wins.

Varsity Wrestling

The Cougars opened up CHSAA play with a 46-33 victory over Holy Trinity. Jonathan Force scored a pin with a hip-toss at 171 pounds, while Ryan Antoniwich scored another pin at 189 pounds to lead the Cougars. Five of their eight wins came by pin, with two coming off forfiets.

Holy Trinity (9-1) took over first place in the  CHSAA with a close 2-1 win over the Cougars (5-2) Wednesday evening. The second match turned out to be the deciding factor as the Cougars lost by just five pins.

Girls Bowling

The Cougars (5-1) took down Holy Trinity in a tight 2-1 CHSAA contest Wednesday evening. Madison Gervasi's 200 in Game 2 and 517 series helped lead the Cougars to victory. Caroline Herrera followed Gervasi with a 507 series while Kaila Munkwitz bowled a 460.

West Islip High School

Wrestling

Travis Isgro pinned Pat Ortiz at 96 pounds while Tyler Walsh and Andrew Gray added pins at 112 and 140 respectively to lead the Lions to a convincing win over Centereach to start league play.
