WI College LAX Report: Turri Gets Ninth Win

The college lacrosse season is in full swing and some former West Islip High School stars are once again having an impact. Throughout the spring season, Patch will provide weekly updates on local players. Kyle Turri had 4 saves and allowed 6 goals in Duke’s 16-7 win over Rutgers in the Blue Devils final regular season game. He played 47:05 minutes to get his ninth win of the season.
• Yale defenseman Michael McCormack had an assist and four groundballs in the Bulldogs 8-7 loss to No. 4 Maryland.
Michael Sagl of Quinnipiac had 3 goals and 2 assists in the Bobcats 11-10 win over Wagner. Sagl’s goals came in a 39 second span in the first quarter.
Andrew Hodgson had 1 goal and 1 assist for Towson, but the Tigers fell to Drexel 14-11.
Matt Gebhardt had four goals for Pace, but the Setters fell to St. Anselm 15-10.
• Mercy’s A. J. Pellati had 6 saves in the Setters 10-7 win over Roberts Wesleyan.
• Marquette’s men’s lacrosse team celebrated the program’s first home game with a 14-9 win over Detroit Mercy, and there was a strong West Islip presence on the score sheet for the Golden Eagles. Bryan Badolato had 2 goals, Liam Byrnes had an assist and 8 groundballs, Jerry Nobile had 1 groundball, Brendan Smith had a goal and JJ Sagl made 8 saves.
Katie Rotan had 1 goal and 2 assists for LIU Post in the Pioneers 20-3 win over RWCW.
Devan Crimi had 3 goals and 1 assist and Sara Sangiorgio chipped in with 2 goals for Adelphi as the Panthers rolled past St. Michael’s 20-1.
Casey Sarle had 1 goal for Oneonta but the Red Dragons fell to Geneseo 18-11.
Alyssa Costantino had 1 save in 30 minutes of action for Syracuse in the Orange’s 18-6 win over Marquette.
Deana Monfredo had 4 goals and 1 assist for Curry in the Colonels 21-2 win over Framingham on Thursday.
Paige Engeldrum had 4 groundballs and 2 caused turnovers for Hamilton College, but the Continentals lost to Trinity 8-4.
