WI College LAX Report: Sagl Scores OT Game Winner

The college lacrosse season is in full swing and some former West Islip High School stars are once again having an impact. Throughout the spring season, Patch will provide weekly updates on local players. • Quinnipiac’s Michael Sagl had 3 goals including the game winner in the third overtime as the Bobcats defeated Sacred Heart 13-12.

• Duke’s Kyle Turri made 8 saves as the Blue Devils defeated Atlantic Coast Conference Rival Virginia 19-16 Friday night.

Michael McCormack of Yale had 4 groundballs in the Bulldogs 11-8 win over Ivy League rival Brown.

Andrew Hodgson had 2 goals and 1 assist for Towson, but the Tigers fell to Penn State 10-8.

• In Marquette’s 14-6 win over High Point, Golden Eagles’ goaltender JJ Sagl made 16 saves. In addition, defenseman Liam Byrnes had 2 assists in the victory.

Matt Gebhardt had 1 goal and 1 assist for Pace in the Setters 13-6 loss to Merrimack.

• LIU Post’s Scott Mattera had five groundballs in the Pioneers 14-13 loss to Mercyhurst.

• LIU Post’s Katie Rotan had 1 goal and 1 assist in the Pioneers 17-10 win over St. Thomas Aquinas this past Wednesday. On Saturday, Rotan had a 1 goal in LIU Post’s 15-12 win over Stonehill College.

Devan Crimi had 4 goals and 1 assist and Sara Sangiorgio had 1 goal for Adelphi in the Panthers 11-9 victory over St. Anselm.

Loren Ziegler had a goal for Syracuse in the Orange’s 21-6 win over Cincinnati.

Deanna Monfredo had 2 goals for Curry College in the Colonels 13-6 win over Nichols.
