WI College LAX Report: Crimi, Sangiorgio Lead Adelphi

Patch will provide weekly reports on how former local lacrosse players are doing at the collegiate level.

The college lacrosse season is in full swing and some former West Islip High School stars are once again having an impact. Throughout the spring season, Patch will provide weekly updates on local players. • It was a big week for two former West Islip lacrosse stars at Adelphi University. This past Wednesday, Devan Crimi had 3 goals and Sara Sangiorgio had 4 goals and 1 assist in the Panthers 16-2 win over Southern Connecticut State. On Saturday, Crimi had 6 goals and 2 assists and Sangiorgio had 4 goals in Adelphi’s 18-1 win over Franklin Piece. Through seven games this season, Crimi has 26 goals and 15 assists and Sangiorgio has 29 goals and 3 assists.

Kyle Turri made 5 saves and allowed 4 goals while playing 45 minutes for Duke in the Blue Devils’ 19-7 win over Georgetown on Saturday. On the season, Turri is 5-0 with a 7.75 goals against average.

• Brown’s Jack Kelly made 6 saves in the Bears 21-8 win over High Point on Sunday. The goaltender played 38:07. On the season, Kelly is 5-1 with a 7.76 goals against average.

• Yale’s Michael McCormack had 5 groundballs and 1 caused turnover in the Bulldogs’ 10-9 loss to Princeton.

Michael Sagl had 1 goal and 3 assists for Quinnipiac in the Bobcats 11-10 loss to Fairfield. He had 2 goals on Saturday in Quinnipiac’s 11-9 loss to Binghamton.

Andrew Hodgson netted the game-winning goal for Towson in the Tigers’ 7-6 overtime win over Delaware on Friday. For the game, Hodgson had 2 goals and 1 assist with 11 shots.

Drew Federico had an assist in Fairfield’s 11-10 win over Quinnipiac this past Tuesday. On Saturday, Federico had 1 goal and 1 assist in the Stags’ 13-10 win over Hobart.

• Pace’s Matt Gebhardt had 2 goals in the Setters’ 21-5 loss to LeMoyne this past Tuesday. On Saturday, he had 2 goals and 2 assists in a 14-12 loss to Southern New Hampshire.

• Freshman A.J. Pellati had 16 saves for Mercy in the Mavericks 10-8 win over defending NCAA Division II Champions Dowling College.

• At LIU Post, Katie Rotan had 1 goal and 1 assist in the Pioneers 16-13 win over Dowling College this past Wednesday. On Saturday, Rotan had 1 goal in LIU Post’s 9-7 win over Bloomsburg. On the men’s side, Scott Mattera had 3 groundballs and 2 caused turnovers in the Pioneers’ 15-5 win over NYIT.

Casey Sarle had 2 goals and 5 draw controls for Oneonta in the Red Dragons’ 16-13 win over Hamilton this past Wednesday. Sarle also had an assist and 3 draw controls in Oneonta’s 12-8 loss to St. John Fisher.

• It was a busy weekend for Jackie Moynihan and her Hartwick College teammates. On Saturday, she scored two goals in the Hawks’ 20-8 win over Houghton. On Sunday, Moynihan had 3 goals and 1 assist in Hartwick’s 18-11 win over Cazenovia College.

Deanna Monfredo had 2 goals and 3 assists for Curry College in the Colonels’ 18-4 win over Wheelock this past Wednesday. On Friday, she had 3 goals and 2 assists in Curry’s 19-7 win over Manhattanville.
