WI Alumni Lacrosse Report: Galasso Tallies Career-High in Points

Here's a look at how former West Islip High School lacrosse players fared for their new schools last week.

Every Monday during the college lacrosse season, Patch will update you on the progress of former players.  Since there's so many to count, we won't be listing every player each week.

Galasso and the surging sixth-ranked Tar Heels blew past the fifth-ranked Maryland Terrapins 11-6 on Saturday.  Galasso had a career-high six points (two goals, four assists), and the win was UNC's first in College Park since 2003.

Teammate and former WI star defenseman Ryan Flanagan (UNC, Sr.) helped suffocate Maryland's offense and forced three turnovers.

UNC returns to action this Sunday at the New Meadowlands Stadium when they take on Johns Hopkins (Patch will be there).

Mike Johnson (Maritime, Fr.)

Making his first appearance on the Lacrosse Report, Johnson, a freshman midfielder, recorded his first career goal for Maritime on Saturday against Ithaca.

Ian Braddish (Hofstra, So.)

Braddish recorded a team-high three points in Hofstra's bounce back win against Drexel on Saturday.  His one goal, two assist performance was his best output of the season.

Eddie Plompen (C.W. Post, So.)

The top-ranked Pioneers suffered their first loss of the season at the hands of Dowling in OT on Saturday, 7-6.  Plompen gets the nod here not only for his three point performance, but because his only goal came with three seconds left in regulation to force overtime.

Justin Turri (Duke, RJr.)

Two assists for Turri extended his scoring streak to a blasphemous 22 games.  Oh and Duke made a gutsy comeback at Georgetown to win 14-12.

Ryan Zaremba (Geneseo, Fr.)

Zaremba made one of his 14 saves in overtime to secure a 8-7 win for the Blue Knights over Clarkson on a cold and windy Saturday.
