West Islip's Plompen Leads Post to Lacrosse Title

Scores four goals in title game

West Islip's Eddie Plompen led C.W. Post to its second consecutive NCAA Division II National Championship in lacrosse. Plompen, a sophomore attacker, has now won two national titles as a member of the C.W. Post Pioneers. 

In the national championship game against Le Moyne College at M&T Bank Stadium in Baltimore, the Pioneers trailed 8-5 at the end of the first half, but scored nine goals in the second half to defeat Le Moyne, the national champions in 2006 and 2007, 14-9.

Plompen led the way for C.W. Post, scoring four goals including three in the fourth quarter. He was named the game's Most Outstanding Player.

Plompen played three years of varsity lacrosse for the West Islip Lions. He was on the Lions teams that won a county championship and two state championships. He graduated from West Islip High School in 2008 after a lacrosse season in which he earned All-American honorable mention honors.
