West Islip Trio Chosen for First Annual Field Hockey Classic

Three West Islip players participated in field hockey classic event.

Blue skies and crisp autumn air ushered in the High School Field Hockey season at Dowling College on Sunday, August 25, 2013 as it hosted the 1st Annual Long Island Rising Stars Field Hockey Classic. 

Seen as a positive way to kick off the High School Field Hockey season, Kim Hannigan; Head Coach of the Dowling Golden Lions conceived of the idea as a way to salute the Rising Junior and Senior players here on Long Island.

Comprised of 63 nominated exceptional Junior and Senior High School players from both Nassau and Suffolk County placed on 4 teams (NORTH, SOUTH, EAST and WEST) consisting of 2 goalies and 14 field players.

Playing for the EAST team were three West Islip Seniors.  Forward: Danielle Ciolino, Forward; Justine DeLuca and GoalKeeper; Olivia Kelly.   

The West Islip Girls played on the EAST team which consisted of fellow players from Bayshore, Patchogue/Medford, Massapequa and Southampton.  The girls finished the three game format with a 2 wins and 1 loss.
