West Islip Native Heads To The NHL

New Jersey recalls Matt Anderson from Albany as Devils face Boston on Tuesday.

A West Islip native is a step closer to making his National Hockey League debut.

Matt Anderson was recalled by the New Jersey Devils and will be with the team as they play the Boston Bruins on the road Tuesday. The game is set for 7 p.m. and will be televised locally on MSG Plus.

Signed as a free agent in 2011, Anderson, 30, has seven goals and 13 assists in 39 games this season with the American Hockey League’s Albany Devils, New Jersey’s top minor league affiliate.

During the 2011-12 season with Albany, Anderson had 10 goals and 21 assists in 56 games.

Should Anderson play with the Devils, he would join Mike Komisarek of the Toronto Maple Leafs as the other West Islip native to currently play in the NHL. Komisarek was drafted by the Montreal Canadiens in the first round (seventh overall) of the 2011 NHL Draft.

Komisarek spent six seasons with Montreal before joining Toronto in 2009.

You can thank all these POS politicians for the new gun legislation designed to make law abidingRead More citizens give up their second amendment rights out of sheer frustration and incontinence of owning a gun legally for increases in savage on citizen violence. This is only the beginning and in short time many New Yorker's will be forced to remain in their homes fearing one of these animals will make them their pray. I for one believe in the old adage, it's better to be judged by 12 than carried by 6.

I think Proposition 2 is a great idea, in the current structure you have to "call out" anRead More individual basically saying "I think you are doing a particularly bad job". Politics get dirty enough as is and I think this will increase participation and ultimately give us a better Board of Education.
