West Islip LAX Star Eyes A World Title

Kyle Turri is one of two goalies on Team USA's U-19 squad participating in this week's World Championships in Finland.

West Islip’s Kyle Turri will be in Finland this week as a member of Team USA’s U-19 men’s lacrosse team competing in the 2012 World Championships.

A year removed from his high school graduation, Turri just completed his freshman year at Duke University where the Blue Devils again made it to the National Semi-Finals before losing to Maryland 16-10. One of four goalies on the Duke roster, Turri played in eight games during the past season — starting three — and compiled a 2-1 record.

During his high school career, Turri started in goal his junior and senior years helping the Lions win a New York State Class A championship in 2010 and a Suffolk County Class A title in 2011.
