West Islip Captures County Championship

Lions Defeat Ward Melville with big second half

The West Islip Lions won the Suffolk County Class A championship Thursday night, defeating Ward Melville 16-9. West Islip, which is trying to win consecutive state titles, took another step toward their goal with a big second half at Kenneth P. LaValle Stadium at Stony Brook University.

The Lions got a big game from senior Andrew Hodgson, who led the way for the Lions in the second half with three goals and two assists as the Lions outscored the Ward Melville Patriots 8-2 in the second half including  5-0 in the third quarter.

Senior Nicky Galasso also played a big part in the win, scoring four goals including two unassisted in the second half as the Lions scored eight unanswered to begin the half.

Mike Sagl also played a big part in the win with four goals and Drew Federico scored three goals in the first half including a goal with 2:58 left in the half to give the Lions their first lead of the game and one they would never relinquish.

"It feels awesome especially this being my senior year. Me and Nicky [Galasso] went out and said we have to win it and sure enough we came through," said Hodgson.

West Islip will now play Farmingdale from Nassau County on Tuesday.

You can thank all these POS politicians for the new gun legislation designed to make law abidingRead More citizens give up their second amendment rights out of sheer frustration and incontinence of owning a gun legally for increases in savage on citizen violence. This is only the beginning and in short time many New Yorker's will be forced to remain in their homes fearing one of these animals will make them their pray. I for one believe in the old adage, it's better to be judged by 12 than carried by 6.

Has anyone been able to find out if we are losing money renting this building to this for profitRead More preschool? If I under stood correctly from previous post's, there may be some friendship with one or more BOE members which paved the way for their lease.
