West Islip Alum Casey Sarle Selected to Lacrosse All-Star Game

Congrats to West Islip alum Casey Sarle, a member of the SUNY Oneonta women's lacrosse team, for being selected to play in the IWLCA Senior All-Star Game.

The IWLCA honored 132 senior student-athletes with selection to one of the 2014 North-South All Stars rosters. Sarle, a senior at Oneonta, was selected to play for the Division III North squad. She is one of only 44 Division III seniors to be selected to participate.

"We're very proud to have Casey represent the college in the IWLCA senior all-star game next week," said head coach Ali Pollock. "This will be a great experience for her, and an enjoyable conclusion to her successful four-year career here at Oneonta."

This honor for Sarle is a culminating honor for her this spring, as she was a second team IWLCA All-Region and All-SUNYAC selection for her performance on the field this season. She was a team captain for a second straight year and led the team with 91 draw controls, which is second all-time for a single season. She also contributed 25 goals and four assists for 29 points, which was a career high in both categories.

Sarle became only the second women's lacrosse player in history to surpass 200 draw controls and leaves the program second all-time with 222 draw controls. In 66 career games, she tallied 68 points on 56 goals and 12 assists. She collected 136 ground balls and caused 46 turnovers.

Oneonta completed a 12-7 season this spring and qualified for the SUNYAC tournament. The Red Dragons spent a few weeks in the top-20 Coaches' Poll and received votes in the final poll of 2014.
