Turri, Team USA Take Game 1

West Islip LAX star makes three saves in 24-6 win over Australia in U-19 Men's Lacrosse World Championships.

West Islip’s Kyle Turri had three saves on Friday for Team USA as the Americans defeated Australia 24-6 in the first round of the U-19 Men’s Lacrosse World Championships in Finland.

Turri, a member of West Islip High School’s Class of 2011 who attends Duke University, played the second half and allowed two goals. He relieved fellow Long Islander Zach Oliveri of Ronkonkoma, who played the first half and allowed four goals and made two saves.

During the third quarter, Turri excited fans by making a running clear deep into the Australian defensive zone, a play reminiscent of his against Ward Melville in 2011.
