The New York State Sportwriters Association released its first boys lacrosse rankings of the season this week and two Long Island programs sit in the top spot.

West Islip has started the season 3-1 in League play with wins over Connetquot, Sachem North and Half Hollow Hills West. The team's only League loss came to Smithtown East 13-6, the first time the Lions have lost to East.
