West Islip resident receives honor for her play at St. John The Baptist.

Junior Kaitlin Montalbano of West Islip has been named a high school All-American in girls lacrosse, marking the first time a student at St. John The Baptist High School has received the honor in the sport.

The midfielder finished the 2013 season with 80 goals and 129 total points. She has verbally committed to play her college ball at Towson University.

“Kaitlin is a one of a kind, stand out player,” said Janine Pirone, head coach for St. John’s girls lacrosse team. “She works hard, plays with a lot of heart, and is fully committed to her team. She brings a lot of skill, knowledge and experience to the game. It is a pleasure and privilege to coach Kaitlin.”
