Lions Ranked Third Nationally

West Islip boys lacrosse one of six Long Island schools in the Under Armour/Inside Lacrosse Top-25.

West Islip’s boys lacrosse team once again sits near the top of the national high school rankings.

The Lions, which recently won its fifth New York State Class A title with a , finished the season ranked third in the nationwide Under Armour/Inside Lacrosse Top 25 High School Power Rankings.

Ahead of West Islip is New York State Class B Champion Garden City (22-0), widely regarded as the best high school team in the nation, and Calvert Hall (16-2), the Maryland Interscholastic Athletic Association’s ‘A’ Conference champions.

Included in the Top-25 were three teams West Islip defeated on the road to its state title: (No. 23), (No. 22) and (No. 14).

West Islip was also one of six Long Island high schools included in the Top-25. In addition to Garden City and Ward Melville were Catholic high school champs St. Anthony’s, Catholic high school finalist Chaminade and New York State Class C Champion Shoreham-Wading River.
