Lions Get Back On Track

West Islip rebounds from Chaminade loss, dominates Sachem North 9-3.

Following Saturday’s loss to Chaminade, West Islip head coach Scott Craig said his team needed to work on defensive clears and have more confidence on offense.

It appears two days of practice earlier this week resolved those issues as West Islip topped Sachem North 9-3 Wednesday in a dominating performance at West Islip High School.

Following a spirited first 12 minutes in which the teams were tied at 2, the Lions dominated quarters two and three, outscoring the Flaming Arrows 5-0 to take a 7-2 lead into the fourth.

West Islip’s defense kept Sachem’s offense on the perimeter allowing goaltender Jared Carrino to have good looks at the few Flaming Arrow shots launched his way.

Trevor Bovich and Kevin Braddish had 2 goals each for West Islip. Evan Petillo, Sean O’Brien and Joe Caridi scored Sachem’s goals.
