Players taught kids the importance of fundamentals and most of all, to have fun.

Saturday, May 14th was a special day at the West Islip Little League baseball
fields.  The Little League sponsored a clinic for the boys and girls of the
town and had some special guests come down to work with the kids.

Ray Negron, a public relations manager for the NY Yankees, Yankee scout Cesar
Presbott and members of the Hank's Yanks Long Island Baseball team came out
to teach the kids and improve on their skills.

For two hours the Yankees spent time on hitting, fielding and the art of base running.  Ray and Cesar stressed the importance of practice and keeping a positive attitude:  "you can do anything you put your mind to."

In addition to the clinic, they spent some extra time with the Challenger
League.  Every Saturday at 2 p.m., the West Islip Little League holds a clinic
and game for children with disabilities from West Islip and surrounding
towns.

This free league game is run by volunteers who come down to coach
and play with the kids.  This week they got to play with Hank's Yanks!  The
young men from Hank's Yanks were a great treat for the children and their
patience, professionalism and positive attitude was evident as they spent
time making sure each child had fun on the diamond that day!

A great day for everyone involved.
