Girls Varsity Soccer Wins Another League 3 Undefeated Title
Lions beat Commack 2-1 in county semi-finals.
Congratulations to the 2013 West Islip Girls Varsity Soccer Team on another League 3 undefeated title.
The team defeated Commack 2-1 this past Saturday to advance to the Suffolk County Finals for the fourth time in the last six seasons.
Shannen Gillespie's first half goal knotted the score at one and set the stage for a thrilling final 40 minutes. With 15 minutes remaining in regulation time, Vanessa Costantino won a midfield challenge and fed Cassidy Rollman who put the ball in the net for the winning goal.
On Tuesday the team lost to Northport, 2-1, in the quest for the Suffolk Class AA title. Carly Kohler scored the Lion's goal.
