WI Gymnastics Squad Takes Home League II Title

Team went undefeated, winning all seven meets in their league.

The West Islip High School girls gymnastics team is celebrating a League II championship after beating Hauppauge in their season finale on Tuesday. 

Their total score of 151.625 barely edged Hauppauge's score of 150.75, but was good enough to seal a seventh win and undefeated record in League II (7-2 overall).

Led by head coach Karyn Storan, the team featured four seniors, three juniors, four sophomores, and two middle Udall students.

All-County performer Paula Pecorella led the team in uneven bars and floor exercise while seventh-grader Hanna Battaglini won the team's Most Improved award.
