Boys Track and Field Nabs League III Title

Team remains undefeated as they head to Division Championships.

For the third time in the past four years, West Islip Boys Track and Field has gone undefeated and captured the League III Title.

It was a hard fought battle in their last meet of the season against Bay Shore Wednesday afternoon. West Islip needed to win two of the last three relay events to defeat Bay Shore.

The 4x800 relay team of Vincent Melia, Mike Nowotarski, Dan Morley and Chris Nohilly won their event setting up a show-down in the 4x400 relay (Sean Sepe, Brad Hitter, Dom Morgan and Colin O'Connor). West Islip trailed Bay Shore after the first two legs of the relay before Dom Morgan received the baton. Morgan closed the gap and when he handed the baton to Colin O'Connor for the final leg it was a virtual dead heat. O'Connor quickly sprinted ahead of Bay Shore securing the victory in the relay and the meet.
