Alumni Report: Senior Day Honors For Several Former Lions

Weekly column highlights athletic accomplishments of West Islip graduates.

Softball

• West Islip’s Kaitlin Keenan and Rebecca Richman were among five seniors Farmingdale State honored on Senior Day. The Rams swept Mount Saint Vincent 8-0 and 12-3. In game one of the doubleheader Keenan went 1-for-3 with 2 RBI and a run scored while Richman went 2-for-3 with a run scored. In game two Keenan was 1-for-4 with an RBI and Richman was 2-for-4 with a run scored.

Lacrosse

• This past Saturday Quinnipiac honored five senior class members including Chris Messina of West Islip prior to the team’s game vs. Bryant. Messina’s teammate and fellow West Islip resident Michael Sagl had a goal and two assists but the Bobcats lost 9-5.

• Yale defenseman Michael McCormack scored in the Bulldogs' 9-8 OT win vs. Stony Brook on Monday. The goal was the first of his collegiate career

• Dan Cozier had two goals for Farmingdale State as the Rams defeated Stockton 8-4 Saturday afternoon.

• It was another big week for Adelphi’s women’s lacrosse team and Devan Crimi and Sara Sangiorgio. In the Panthers’ 23-8 victory April 10 over Assumption Sangiorgio had four goals and Crimi had four points (2G, 2A). On Saturday, Crimi was the offensive star with seven points (4G, 3A) while Sangiorgio chipped in the three points (2G, 1A) in Adelphi’s 20-2 win over St. Michael’s.

• Freshman Jackie Moynihan of Hartwick College had two goals in the Hawks 23-7 loss to Ithaca College on Saturday.
