West Islip Week In Review

West Nile spraying, town construction sites, new column, and much more

Just in case you were too busy at work, or on a nice relaxing vacation, Patch will catch you to speed with what everything that occurred in West Islip last week.

Monday featured our weekly West Islip Library events and crime report articles, as well as a story about all the construction going on in the neighborhood (complete with many pictures).

On Tuesday, we provided residents the stations that were offering cheapest gas in town.  Michele Antonio delivered tips and advice on how to setup a successful yard sale for National Garage Sale Day, which was on Saturday, August 14.  Our editor, A.J. Voelpel also tried to donate blood at Good Samaritan Hospital, but was ultimately denied.

We ran our regular vacant job positions feature on Wednesday, along with a story of how to prepare for West Nile spraying in the area.

A new column about meatless living, Earthy Eats, debuted to nice reviews on Thursday.  And residents weighed in with their thoughts on the K-Rod altercation that took place after Wednesday night's Mets game.

The History of West Islip column was back on Friday, this time about the early years of entrepreneur, William Dzus.  An article featuring a list of pre-owned automobiles in West Islip was also posted.

As mentioned before, Saturday was National Garage Sale Day, and a directory of local yard sales was provided, along with our weekly segment of weekend open houses.
