West Islip High School Offers Students a Unique College Interaction Program

College visit program provides students opportunity to apply onsite and save application fees.

Every fall the West Islip School District invites local colleges to the high school campus to give students an opportunity to not only meet with college representatives but actually apply for college admission during the event.

Throughout November, several different college admissions representatives will meet with seniors for approximately 15 minutes each to review application, transcript, required test scores and any additional material.

Application decisions may be made immediately and scholarships may be awarded on the spot, according to the school district. Most colleges will waive application fees as well.

Students must register for on-site registration at least two weeks prior to each college’s registration date. At that time, applications may be picked up and must be filled out and handed in to a guidance counselor the day before the college is scheduled for its on-site registration program

“We encourage our students to take advantage of this opportunity to meet one-on-one with an admissions counselor. It is always a successful event at West Islip High School,” states a notice on the district’s website.
