West Islip Cancels After School Activities; Delayed Opening Wednesday A.M.

Delayed opening may change if weather conditions get worse.

Citing the blizzard conditions West Islip School officials have cancelled all afternoon and evening activities for Tuesday and provided the following in an alert posted on the district's website:

  • If your child attends one of the after school care programs, please call your child’s elementary school by 1:00 to inform them as to your child’s dismissal plan today.
  • ASK US is cancelled for today.
  • South Shore Children’s Center is open for today
  • Tutor Time is open for today
  • YES is open for today
  • High school bus runs will begin approximately 30 minutes early so that buses will be able to depart from our middle and elementary schools as close to schedule as possible.
There will be a delayed two-hour opening for school on Wednesday, states the alert, and all-before school activities, including extra help and music, are cancelled for Wednesday morning.

The delayed opening is subject to change, said school leaders, and parents will be notified via the messenger system if the weather and/or road conditions require a change in that plan.
