St. John The Baptist Launches Scientific Research Program

GENESIS program allows students to conduct research projects in a variety of fields.

St. John The Baptist launched an intensive scientific research program this year to a select group of students.

The program, known as GENESIS, allows students to pursue research studies in the field of their choosing.

“We are very excited to welcome our first group of scientific researchers into our new GENESIS Program," said SJB Principal Nan Doherty in a statement. "Our hope is to develop solid research skills and encourage research as a discipline as well as an inspiration into the exploration of ideas, problems and solutions for our future and our world.”

Students in the challenging program are encouraged to apply the scientific method to explore their field.

“I am honored and privileged to lead the first group of SJB Genesis,” said Dave Erlanger, an SBJ science teacher who is also running the program.

The inaugural GENESIS group is paving the way for future students who wish to challenge themselves academically beyond the traditional classroom setting.
