SJB Names Valedictorian, Salutatorian

St. John the Baptist recently recognized the top-two students from the Class of 2011.

St. John the Baptist Diocesan High School recently announced the top students of the Class of 2011.

According to SJB, Kiera Haas, of West Islip, has been named the 2011 Valedictorian and Kirsten Wenzel, of Bay Shore, has been named the 2011 Salutatorian. 

Both students will prepare speeches to present to their classmates and families at graduation, which is scheduled for June 4 at the Tilles Center located on the campus of C.W. Post.

SJB said that there are 392 graduating seniors from the Class of 2011, and about 213 of those students have already received nearly $33 million dollars in collegiate scholarships and grants.

“We believe in academic integrity and excellence," said Principal Walter Lace. "Each student in this community is challenged to discover, utilize, and develop his or her intellectual abilities.  Maximizing academic potential prepares the student both for college and opportunities in the world."
