Sandy Cancels Tuesday Classes For West Islip Schools

Schools will remain closed Tuesday, as will the West Islip Public Library.

West Islip School District students will have another day off, as schools will be closed Tuesday due to Hurricane Sandy.

In a phone call to parents across the district, Superintendent Richard Simon said classes are canceled for the second consecutive day in anticipation of damage from the storm, which is expected to hit the area hardest Monday night into Tuesday.

"Schools will be closed Tuesday in the expectation of power outages from Hurricane Sandy," he said in the message.
