The thought of closing schools first became public at the district study group hearing in late October. Then, Simon presented a packed auditorium with several closure options and how much each would save the district.

After consideration from the BOE, the school closing options were reduced to four, which were presented Nov. 10 at a public meeting. It wasn't until a meeting on Nov. 30 that the BOE ultimately chose the option that would close two elementary schools, and would save the district an estimated $2.4-$3.2 million.
