Meet West Islip's Class of 2012 Valedictorian

Teresa Oszkinis will pursue biomedical engineering at Harvard in the fall.

In a graduating class of 468, Teresa Oszkinis has been named West Islip High School's 2012 Valedictorian.

Oszkinis is highly active in both academics and community organizations, including the West Islip Beautification Society and Keep Islip Clean, for which she serves as secretary and district project leader.

On the academic front, Oszkinis is a National Merit Scholar and has conducted research in the Biomedical program at Stony Brook University, in addition to completing the school's most challenging courses. 

Oszkinis also embraced her Polish heritage, sacrificing Saturdays to study the culture, language and history of Poland at Zbigniew Hebert Polish Supplementary School.
