HS Girls Soccer Team Top Seed In Suffolk

Boys soccer team seeded ninth as County playoffs get underway next week.

The West Islip High School girls soccer team will head into the Suffolk County playoffs as the top seed in Class AA.

The Lions, which on Tuesday completed a 12-0 season in League III play (14-1-1 overall), received a first round bye and will play the winner of Saturday’s Commack/Deer Park game — the number eight and nine seeds respectively — at home on Wednesday.

Should Commack advance, it would give West Islip a chance at redemption as the Lions lost to the Cougars 2-0 on September 10. The only other blemish on the season for West Islip is a 1-1 tie against Hauppauge — the number two seed — on September 21.

The high school’s boys soccer team (11-2-3 overall) is seeded ninth and will play at No. 8 Bay Shore on Tuesday. The two teams tied 1-1 on September 11. A victory by the Lions would send them to the quarterfinals where they could face No. 1 seed Brentwood.

I think Proposition 2 is a great idea, in the current structure you have to "call out" anRead More individual basically saying "I think you are doing a particularly bad job". Politics get dirty enough as is and I think this will increase participation and ultimately give us a better Board of Education.
