Girls Track Team Wins Suffolk Championship

First time in the history of the program that freshman team claimed championship.

For the first time in its history, the West Islip freshman girls track team reigns over Suffolk County.

The team recently won the County Championship, a first in the program's 33-year history.

Key players included:

Amanda Iasparo - 3rd place in 400 hurdlers and high jump and 2nd place in the 100 hurdles

Meghan Bevan - 2nd place in 1500 race walk

Kelsey Krupski - 1st place in triple jump and 3rd place in long jump

Alyssa Bove - 5th place in 3000m

Helen Filosa - 4th place in shot put

Samantha Jenks - 2nd place in long jump

Sierra Koehler - 3rd place 800m

Kayla Schmadtke - 4th place in 400 hurdles

Also contributing to the team's success were Erica Bavaro, Lindsey Gellar, Kaitlyn Koehler, Adrianna Lent, Erin Lettieri, Sara Mercurio and Morgan Paules.
