The West Islip Health and Wellness COMPASS Coalition is holding a community seminar on the dangers of prescription drug abuse on Tuesday.
The free forum, part of the Parent University Lecture series, takes place at 7 p.m. in the Beach Street Middle School auditorium.
Keynote speakers include Susan Roethel of The Fallen on Long Island and Bryan Stoothoff from the Suffolk County Sheriff's Office.
Topics of discussion will include navigating the party years, the effects of drugs and alcohol on the adolescent brain, and local drug trends to look out for.
Parents throughout the district are encouraged to attend.
