The West Islip School District is holding a Parent Academy seminar Wednesday evening to help parents better understand the Common Core curriculum standards.
To attend the workshop parents must go to the district’s website, print out the registration form and bring it to the district’s main office.
The program, which features six separate topics, will run from 6:30 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. in the Beach Street Middle School cafeteria and is for parents of students from kindergarten to eighth grade.
According to a flyer attached to the registration form the six workshops will provide parents with information about the instructional practices used in classrooms and the district’s full implementation of the Go Math! series. Parents will have an opportunity to ask questions and learn ways they can help their students become stronger academically.
