Carter Wins Suffolk County Diving Championship

West Islip student Patrick Carter is Suffolk County's new diving champion.

After an undefeated season, Carter took the county victory with an 11-dive score of 451.25 in Hauppuge earlier this month.

The title is a dream come true for the eighth grader.

"I dove, dove, and dove some more," Carter told Newsday. "I practiced every day and I always dreamed of winning the county championship."

Next on Carter's agenda is the state championship, for which he secured a spot after winning the Suffolk Diving Invitational in December.
