Bellew Recycling Club Donates Sneakers To Help Make Turf Fields

Third graders partnered with Keep Islip Clean to donate sneakers to Nike's Re-Use a Shoe Program.

The Paul J. Bellew third grade Recycling Club recently partnered with Keep Islip Clean to collect and donate sneakers to a program that turns the soles of shoes into ahtletic turf fields.

In total, 216 sneakers were donated to Nike's Re-Use a Shoe Program. The sneakers will be sent to the Nike plant where the rubber soles will be cut off and used for padding under athletic turf fields.

can someone please contact the school systems for a closing or delay i dont want my children standing at the bus on a sheet of ice and snow

Hi Joe, I've contacted the district office and am waiting for a reply. In the meantime, we're monitoring the district website closely for any info regarding closures or delays tomorrow.
