Beach Street Middle School News: Breast Cancer Support, Mathlete Meet

Girls tennis grabs a victory, girls soccer now 3-1 after win against Deer Park.

Go Pink on Friday

Friday will bring a sea of pink to the Beach Tree Middle School as students and staff will be wearing pink shirts to acknowledge October as Breast Cancer Awareness month. It will also be the last day to buy a paper Breast Cancer Ribbon during class lunch periods. Sales revenue will be donated to the West Islip Breast Cancer Coalition.

Mathletes Gearing up for First Meet

The first Mathlete Meet will be on Tuesday, Oct. 22 at Islip Middle School.

Sports Updates

The girls soccer team improved its record to 3-1 on Tuesday with a 5 to 3 win against Deer Park. Every member of the team contributed to the win. Goals were scored by Maria Pascarella, Samantha Blair, Sydnie Brady, Michelle Kurkela and Melanie Klein. Assists went to Emily McLeer, Gabby Fatscher, Hayley Kirby, and Kristina Schweitzer. Melanie Klein, Adriane Casey and Lainie Martin all made some outstanding saves to ensure the win for the Lions.

In a close 4-3 match Wednesday against Copiague Middle School the girls tennis team was able to capture their second victory of the season. Singles players Rosa Lettieri and Miranda Paterno won their matches and doubles teams consisting of Alex Winter and Leanna Paulsen as well as Sara Kolk and Barbara Connor won their matches as well. From top to bottom the girls played well.
