Bayview Students Appointed Safety Officers

Fifth graders take on new responsibility.

Bayview fifth grade students are running the streets that are the elementary school hallways.

Some have been given the responsibility and leadership role as safety patrol officers, in charge of reinforcing and coordinating the arrival, dismissal, and hallway procedures of fellow students.

The officers are assigned specific areas within the school and can be recognized by their signs and bright orange belts. The signs remind students to sit quietly in the halls, walk, don’t run and to line up for the buses.

Students who were interested in this job were given an application, which were reviewed by a staff of teachers.   After the February break, a new set of students were given the opportunity.
