Village Hall to Open For Weekend

Massapequa Park residents can charge up and get meals on Saturday and Sunday.

Massapequa Park residents hit hard by Hurricane Sandy can take refuge from the storm and the power outages by  going to Village Hall this weekend.

Mayor James Altadonna said that Village Hall will be open both Saturday and Sunday.

Residents can charge their phone, use village phones or pick up a hot meal ready to eat, the Mayor said.

Altaonna also announced that the village has now cleared all streets of downwd trees.

"We are working with all layers of government to try to get LIPA to respond to the village," Altadonna said.

As of Friday morning, LIPA was still reporting 5,425 customers without power in Massapequa Park.

The utility was also reporting 4,671 outages in North Massapequa, 6.356 in Massapequa and 2,929 in East Massapequa.
