Town Fireworks Show Set For Monday

Day long festivities at the Bay Shore Marina will be capped by a Grucci fireworks display.

Islip Town residents looking to end their Fourth of July holiday weekend with a bang may do so on Monday at the Bay Shore Marina.

Residents will be able to sample a variety of food, enjoy a broad range of entertainment and meet with various local businesses that are supporting the event.

This year’s event will also honor the United States Army with a flag-raising ceremony and flyover that will accompany the 20-minute fireworks show by the renowned Grucci Fireworks.

The flyover, conducted by the , is scheduled to begin at 8 p.m. At 8:30 p.m., a U.S. Army Color Guard will join in for a playing of the National Anthem. The fireworks are slated to start at 9:30 p.m.

Town officials are encouraging residents to spend part of their July 4th at the marina to fish, swim at Benjamin Beach or use the Shipwreck Cove spray park that was installed in 2010.

All proceeds from the event will benefit Pronto of Long Island, a community-outreach center serving more than 63,000 people across Nassau and Suffolk counties.
