Residents Hit the Polls on Election Day

As the local and state elections got underway Tuesday, many people were experiencing the new voting system for the first time.

As residents filled out their ballots at polling places in West Islip, many were tackling the major state and local elections, while some were tackling the new voting machines for the first time.

Debbie Pepe-Pylyp, of West Islip, was not a fan of the scanning technology, to say the least.

"Hate the new system," she said.  "Thank God I had my reading glasses since the paper you fill out has the tiniest print ever!"

"Ridiculous!" added Chris McCandless, of West Islip.

Henry K, who is a DJ on The Real Radio Show on WGBB-1240AM, was at the Higbie Center placing his ballot and wasn't so much worried about the way he was voting, compared to who he was voting for.

"It is very, very important to get out to vote because things have to change," he said.  "What I want to see change is politicians who are corrupt and are changing it here (in America) so this is not the place to be."

He also noted that he hosted The Rent is Too Damn High Party candidate for Govenor, Jimmy McMillian, on his show last night and that it was his last stop in the race.
