More Mosquito Spraying Set For Fire Island

Several communities will be treated on Tuesday and Wednesday.

The Suffolk County Department of Public Works has planned sprays on Tuesday and Wednesday in parts of Fire Island in an on-going effort to control the adult mosquito population.

Tuesday evening, Davis Park and Point O’Woods will be treated from 6 p.m. to 10 p.m. Ground spraying will use Anvil in an ultra low volume aerosol.

On Wednesday, Ocean Bay Park will be sprayed from 6 p.m. to 10 p.m. also using Anvil in an ultra low volume aerosol.

To date, more than 30 cases of West Nile virus have been reported across Suffolk County, but no cases in humans.
