King, CNN Anchor Spar Over 'Apology Tour' Comment

Congressman defends remarks saying President Obama has apologized for past U.S. policies in the Middle East.

Rep. Peter King, R-Seaford, and CNN anchor Soledad O’Brien got into a heated discussion Monday morning on the cable news network over King’s assertion the President has apologized for past U.S. policies in the Middle East.

According to a report on rawstory.com, following the recent violence at several U.S. embassies in the Middle East and elsewhere over an anti-Muslim video on YouTube, several prominent Republicans including King said President Obama spent time during his first term on an “apology tour.”

During the CNN interview, O’Brien asked King, “What specific apologies are you talking about?”

The congressman responded, “I would say when [the President] was in Cairo in 2009, when he was basically apologizing for American policies, saying American policies sometimes had gone too far.”

O’Brien responded that the President in the speech mentioned by King did not use the word “apology” and never once said, “I’m sorry.”

Soledad is a consumate journalist, and she was mentioning to contrite King, that there has been no apology tour that the Pres. has been on. Soledad referenced fact check as a reference, mr.king dismissed that point, and continued lying about what the Pres. had said about the crisis in the middle east, and he othere instances..And they wonder why they are not going to win in November.

Wow, u r showing your true racist colors...Did you yell and scream when Bush was taking government money to start 2 wars, change medicare..please Obama/Biden 4 sure on 11/6/2012..
Eileen McCarthy September 18, 2012 at 08:31 PM
How sad some of us are racist. I now know how Mr. King gets re-elected. Sad for USA in 2012.
Walter Noller September 18, 2012 at 10:09 PM
I've just read and reread what was written and have to ask; how the hell is anything here "racist"? Do you two (Bee and Eileen) even know what the term means? If someone disagrees with your politics, is that all you have to offer? No, wait, the part about Pres. Bush using Gov't. money to start two wars... First, where the hell else would a President get funds (and approved by Congress) and second, "we" didn't start ANYTHING! Does the date 9/11 mean anything to you or the fact Saddam was stating he would use his cashe of Weapons of Mass Distruction? The same man that for years after the first Gulf War thumbed his nose at sanctions put upon his country and fired at Amenrican planes. Know what you're talking about and figure what racism really is. His bowing had more to do with a religeous gesture to an assumed authority but sent a very poor message about his role as a world leader. And the economic part has more to do with a Democratic controlled Congress during the Bush years than the President. If anything, Obama has reaped the rewards of his own party, but would have you believe it was his predecessor, mainly because he's very good at blaming others. In his own words for his first term he gets an "incomplete"... Not even a "d minus"... pretty sad, if you ask me. But I guess that's "racist", too. So question to both.. Is it racist to vote for Obama because he's black ? just askin'
Eileen McCarthy September 18, 2012 at 10:30 PM
My son has served both Bush Sr & Bush Jr. I had to endure him going into 'war' twice and still fear it could happen again. I do stay informed and do know what 9/11 means. I too lost people on that day. My sons answered the angry call for 'death to Saddam'. That has happened. Three wars started by presidents named Bush. Wars that were not funded. That is what we are faced with now. What a wasted of lives and money. I am glad we now have a different way of 'fighting' but do pray we never have to kill again. Too many in the US are terrorists themselves and some have enough hatred to keep us at war forever.
bob gee September 18, 2012 at 11:24 PM
eileen big war started by JFK, called vietnam war. more lost there than all three put together. another big on started by HT called korea. how about that one started by FDR ????? all from the what??? party
Rob September 18, 2012 at 11:49 PM
Just becuase someone does not agree with the president does not make them a racist. If you cannot debate something call them a racist. Good tactic.
Eileen McCarthy September 19, 2012 at 12:07 AM
What is your point? I know about all those wars. My grandfather, great uncles, father, uncles, aunts, husband and son have served in WWI, WW2, Korean, Vietnam, Persian Gulf, Iraq and Afghanistan wars. I was answering someone's comment about Bush. I am very proud of my family and all the sacrafices we have made no matter who was President. We were raised to honor the President. All military people are.
Eileen McCarthy September 19, 2012 at 12:09 AM
when someone says the President has shown his true muslim colors......I do know what he means and will not keep quiet......
bob gee September 19, 2012 at 12:21 AM
eileen i am standing at attention saluting your great uncles , greater grandfathers and the rest of the clan that served. if you did'nt know, all the bush's were from the same party. "three wars started by presidents named bush" you said.all i mentioned were from the same party.
DDD September 19, 2012 at 01:35 AM
Wow, so now stating facts makes you racist? As Obama takes this country deeper into socialism I am sure free speech will continue to be eroded so I guess we will need to get used to these types of things. If nov 6 buys us, or better yet, in debts us 4 more years we should all start learning our Chinese.
William Bailey September 19, 2012 at 02:35 AM
Eileen and Bob Gee are both Fools.
DDD September 19, 2012 at 02:54 AM
But at least they are cool with their heads so deeply buried in the sand.
frustrated September 19, 2012 at 02:55 AM
The way this country is heading, you can only expect on more wars. It is so obvious how Obama is doing a great job to bring peace across the world and his 1st two years in office he accomplished very little with his majority in control. All I can say is God help us on November 6th. 4 more years of him in the White House it will only get worse.
bob gee September 19, 2012 at 12:45 PM
hey beetle bailey it's revelle, time to wake up !!!!!!!
joker September 19, 2012 at 12:55 PM
Hey frustrated I guess Mitt would be better. You got to be kidding. That man is no leader and I think our country would be in worse trouble,
Tired of This September 19, 2012 at 01:49 PM
Frustrated don't worrry about what someone named JOKER thinks. Liberals keep blaming Bush and then when that doesn't work out they state Congress isn't working with Oidiot, well the first two years of this Administration when the Dems had the house and the senate....what was accomplished. Gitmo closed, no it didn't why because that is how we hunted and killed Bin Laden. NOW Oidiot takes credit. You may not like how he says things but ROMNEY is correct in what he is saying!! I'll leave you all with this...THE TRUTH HURTS!
Carl September 19, 2012 at 02:09 PM
How refreshing of Soledad OBrien. When guests come on with , she challenges their facts, instead of letting them run with their talking points. Rep King was all hat and no cattle today. She flummoxed Jon Sununu, and now has called out Peter King.
joker gone wild September 19, 2012 at 07:47 PM
again Mitt will make this country better. He cant even keep his facts straight. BIG DUMMY JUST LIKE BUSH! obama will kill him in the debates you wait and see. say goodbye mitt ur screwed!
Rob September 20, 2012 at 02:52 PM
If Obama gets elected again, just imagine the mess he will inherite this time!
Geezer September 20, 2012 at 03:27 PM
Fact: Obama Biden will win the election, take it to the bank
SoMo September 20, 2012 at 03:47 PM
Obama will probably win thankfully Republicans will keep the House & Senate, this should help limit the damage a second term could do to the economy.
still believen September 20, 2012 at 07:37 PM
Hey Lynn republicans just voted down on helping veterans just cause it was something obama wanted done. They act like children and do not want to help this country a and the people that fight for us. It is shamful! If this country does not start working together we are done! They are a buch of babies who know brainless Mitt wont win so they are voting down very important issues in this country. Too bad the only candiate they came up with was Mitt. very sad but I know our president will win and do his best even though he has put up with the republicans.
Rob September 20, 2012 at 08:12 PM
The problem with politicians is they all want just want to blame someone. Obama had the house and senate for 2 years and accomplished nothing. Whose fault was it than? I am neither a dem nor rep. All I remember about the last election is Obama promising everything and going back on most of them. He will not get my vote. Yea, i know, you are going to call me a racist now. a few promises I remember him making -We are going to be the most transparent gov't -when a bill come on my desk to sign I will leave it for 5 days, and post it on line so everyone can see what it is -if we get this bailout, unemployement will not go over 8% -Shovel ready jobs!!
brenden September 20, 2012 at 09:21 PM
it doesnt mean your a racist but do you really want Mitt Romney for president. all politicans make promises and dont keep them. Its been goin on for ever! please. Mitt was born with a silver spoon in his mouth. doesnt have a clue about middle class. I wish clinton could rin again. lol!
Rob September 21, 2012 at 01:22 PM
And Obama knows about the middle class? He has never ran anything in his life, until he became president. Antoher big problem with our political enviroment in this country is that we do not have a choice on who would be the best person for the job, we have a choose between 2 people and have to choose which one of the 2 is better. Obama has had a chance and failed, so yes i think Mitt is the better of the 2.
Yankee Girl forever September 21, 2012 at 01:27 PM
NO WAY is Mitt better! but I do agree that it stinks we only have two people to vote for.tell you the truth sometimes Jesse Ventura makes since in this mess this couuntry is in.
HJB91 September 21, 2012 at 03:17 PM
Mitt Romney is accomplished business man whom despite being born into a wealthy family, went out and created his own success. Obama never ran anything in his life before he was elected president. So as far as credentials, Obama really didn't have any and Mitt does. Obama's record speaks for itself. He is the most divisive president I have ever seen in my life, inciting class warfare. His ideology of redistribution is unamerican. When Obama took office there were approximately 30 million people on food stamps. Today there are 46 MILLION PEOPLE ON FOOD STAMPS!!! I'm not a Bush fan and you can talk about how bad Of a situation Obama inherited all you want but here are the facts: when Obama took office unemployment was at 7.8% now at 8.1 - largely because so many people simply stopped looking for work! And they are no longer counted as unemployed. Median income when Obama took office was 55,000 and is now 51,000. Gas prices when Obama took office - hard to believe but true was avg $1.85/gallon. Today's avg is is $3.85/gallon. National debt when Obama took office was 10 trillion and today it is 16 trillion. Whatever mess u say Obama inherited, under his presidency he has made it exponentially worse. Our nation is in better shape today than four years ago? Desperately worse. Are you better off than you were four years ago? I know that I am not better off individually and neither is my country.
