Daytime Closures on Sunrise Highway in West Islip for Emergency Repairs

New York State Department of Transportation announces Exit 41 to Exit 43 closed Friday 7 a.m. to 3 p.m.

New York State Department of Transportation announced it will be closing portions of Sunrise Highway in the Town of Islip Friday.

The eastbound left travel lane from Exit 41 (Robert Moses Causeway) to Exit 43 (Fifth Avenue) from Exit 48 (Round Swamp Road) to Exit 52 (Commack Road) will be closed Friday, Feb. 22 from 7 a.m. to 3 p.m.

The westbound left travel lane will be closed at the same exits on friday from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m.

The DOT said in a statement the emergency closures are necessary to repair a collapsed catch basin in the median of Sunrise Highway.

Motorists are advised to avoid the area of the closures.

Under New York State law, speeding fines are doubled in a work zone.

For updates on the roadway closures, motorists should call 511 or visit www.511NY.org.  Motorists may also obtain travel information from the INFORM Transportation Management Center cameras at www.INFORMNY.com  and on their hand held communication devices at www.INFORMNY.mobi

You can thank all these POS politicians for the new gun legislation designed to make law abidingRead More citizens give up their second amendment rights out of sheer frustration and incontinence of owning a gun legally for increases in savage on citizen violence. This is only the beginning and in short time many New Yorker's will be forced to remain in their homes fearing one of these animals will make them their pray. I for one believe in the old adage, it's better to be judged by 12 than carried by 6.
