Barraga Names Maria Figalora 'Woman of Distinction'

Suffolk Legislator nominates West Islip resident for county-wide honor to celebrate Women's History Month.

Legislator Thomas Barraga (R-West Islip) has chosen West Islip resident Maria Figalora as a "Woman of Distinction."

Every March, each Suffolk County Legislator selects one woman within their district to be honored in celebration of Women's History Month.

From those selections, the Suffolk County Women’s Advisory Commission selects a county-wide “Woman of Distinction."

"Maria is a dedicated individual who has demonstrated leadership and commitment to the community," Barraga said in a statement.

Figalora serves as Executive Vice President for the West Islip Chamber of Commerce; Secretary of the West Islip Association; Board Member of Pronto of Long Island; Research Development of the West Islip Historical Society; Organizer of the West Islip Symphony Orchestra; Board Member of the Islip Arts Council; a member of the Oak Neck Lane Association; a member of the Women of West Islip; and on the Suffolk County Citizen’s Advisory Board for the Arts.

You can thank all these POS politicians for the new gun legislation designed to make law abidingRead More citizens give up their second amendment rights out of sheer frustration and incontinence of owning a gun legally for increases in savage on citizen violence. This is only the beginning and in short time many New Yorker's will be forced to remain in their homes fearing one of these animals will make them their pray. I for one believe in the old adage, it's better to be judged by 12 than carried by 6.
