7-Eleven Proposal "Adjourned"

Proposal to construct a convenience store at the corner of Udall Rd. and Muncey Rd. taken off Town Planning Board's agenda.

UPDATE at 10 a.m.: The hearing on the proposal to construct a 7-Eleven at the corner of Udall Rd. and Muncey Rd. has been "adjourned," according to information posted on Islip Town's website Thursday morning. Patch is gathering more details on this issue and will update throughout the day.

The Islip Town Planning Board will consider a renewed application regarding a proposed 7-Eleven at the corner of Udall Rd. and Muncey Rd. Thursday at 7:30 p.m. at Town Hall.

The owners of the location — Jon Halperin, Peter Halperin and Stephen Halperin are requesting a zoning change and a Planning Board Special Permit for a conveinience store. Site plan modifications are also required as part of the application. (Full details are contained in the attached PDF.)

The property is currently and auto repair shop.

This isn't the first West Islip residents are hearing of the proposal. In October, the against the proposed convenience store citing traffic and loitering concerns.

In May 2009, the Halperins first proposed constructing a convenience store on the property.

It is not clear if the new proposed store would remain open 24 hours a day.
