UPDATED: West Islip People's United Bank Robbed

No one hurt during robbery at bank inside Stop & Shop.

The West Islip People's United Bank was robbed Friday afternoon.

Police said a man approached a teller and displayed a note demanding cash at 3 p.m. The teller complied and the man fled from the bank, which is located inside the Stop & Shop at 400 Union Boulevard. No one was injured during the robbery. 

The robber is described as a white male, about 5-foot-10 and between the ages of 30 and 40. The man had a fair complexion and facial hair. He was wearing a baseball hat, dark clothing and white sneakers at the time of the robbery, police said. 

The incident comes a week after a People's United in Farmingville, also located inside a Stop & Shop, was robbed

Anyone with information about the robbery is asked to call anonymously to Crime Stoppers at 1-800-220-TIPS.
