West Islip Man Charged with Felony During UAlbany's 'Kegs and Eggs' Rioting

Patrick Fries was arrested and charged with multiple crimes, one of which was a felony.

A West Islip man was charged by Albany detectives on Thursday with criminal mischief when he allegedly vandalized a Ford Crown Victoria during SUNY Albany's annual "Kegs and Eggs" celebration, according to the Times Union

Patrick Fries, a 2007 graduate of West Islip High School, was visiting friends in Albany last weekend when he took part in rioting during "Kegs and Eggs," an annual party held by local college students the weekend prior to St. Patrick's Day, the Times Union said.  

Albany police charged Fries Thursday with second-degree criminal mischief for denting and breaking the windows of a Ford Crown Victoria that was parked on the street where the rioting took place.

According to the Times Union, Fries, 21, was also one of first six people arrested the day of the rioting, which took place on Saturday, March 12.  Fries was arrested and charged with with second-degree assault of a police officer, a felony, second-degree reckless endangerment, first-degree riot, resisting arrest and fourth-degree criminal possession of a weapon.

The Times Union said Fries hit police officers in the legs with rocks, then ran from them and had to be "subdued with a baton while he kicked an officer."

He was sent to Albany County Jail without bail, the Times Union said.
