UPDATE: Police Identify Victim Found Dead in West Islip Street

The body of a Brightwaters man found on Sandra Avenue early Monday, police said.

Suffolk County police have identified the early Monday as Jason Nelson, 26, of Brightwaters.

Nelson is believed to be the victim of a hit-and-run crash, according to a preliminary police investigation.

Nelson was discovered on Sandra Avenue after a 911 caller reported a man lying in the street just after 12 a.m. Nelson was taken to Good Samaritan Hospital Medical Center where he was pronounced dead.

Detectives are asking anyone with information on Nelson’s death to call the Third Squad at 631-854-8352 or anonymously to Crime Stoppers at 1-800-220-TIPS. All calls will be kept confidential, police said.

Politics get dirty enough as is and I think this will increase participation and ultimately give us a better Board of Education.
