Detectives arrested three people Sunday in connection with a hit and run crash last week that critically injured a West Islip teen, police said.
Police say the driver of a 2012 Chrysler 300, Kristofer Busching, 25, of North Babylon, left the scene after striking the teen on Udall Road on New Year's Eve.
Busching, his passenger, Carlo Caamano, and Alicia Santamaria, Busching’s girlfriend who was not present at the time of the incident, then attempted to cover up the crime, police said.
The teen, whose name and age has not been released by police, was found lying on the road unconscious. He remains in critical condition, police said.
Busching is charged with first degree assault, leaving the scene of an accident with serious physical injury, fifth degree conspiracy, criminal mischief and petty larceny.
Caamano, 19, of Bay Shore, is charged with second degree hindering prosecution, fifth degree conspiracy, criminal mischief and petty larceny. Santamaria, 23, of Bay Shore, is charged with second degree hindering prosecution and fifth degree conspiracy.
All three will be arraigned in First District Court in Central Islip on Monday.
