UPDATED: Teen Facing Felony Charge for Tweeting Terrorist Threat

Bay Shore 19-year-old arrested Wednesday night for alleged tweet sent on Monday.

Patch has learned that the Twitter post dating to November 4 stated a shooting would occur at Smithtown West boys soccer team game against Central Islip in the finals of the Suffolk Class AA championship scheduled to be played 6:30 p.m. Thursday at Dowling College. 

Cernas allegedly tweeted from his account, @Mc3xo,“CI BETTER (expletive) WIN OR IM SHOOTING SOME ONE AT DOWLING,” according to the Long Island Press's report. 

It is not known if the game will proceed tonight given the threat issue.

A Bay Shore teenager is facing a felony charge for making a terrorist threat on the social network Twitter that a shooting would take place at a high school soccer game Wednesday night.

Mario Cernas, 19, was arrested at his home, at approximately 6 p.m. Wednesday, according to police. He is charged with making a terroristic threat, a Class D felony, and scheduled to be arraigned at First District Court in Central Islip Thursday.

According to police, Third Squad detectives were notified earlier on Wednesday of a Twitter posting made on November 4 that stated a shooting would occur at a soccer game being held at the Dowling College Sports Complex in Shirley on November 7.
